TOPIC: Economic wealth redistribution
SUBTOPIC: Belson Corporation |
The Belson Corporation is regarded by many in the community
as a promotor of the poverty of poor, rural Utani farmers and that without
addressing Belson no economic equality can be achieved. What will your policy
toward Belson Corporation, and other monoliths like it, be?

Party's policy |
Many within support nationalisation
Must be curbed, at least
President established a government-owned competitor
|
Opposed to nationalisation
Allow "free market" to rein in Belson
|
Supportive of Belson as a national institution
Belson should be more socially-minded
|
Opposed to nationalisation
Belson should be restrained, but...
Ultimately, competition will bring it into line
|
Opposed to Nationalisation
Belson's excesses should be curbed
|
Supports Nationalisation
Supports breaking all pre-independence produce contracts between Belson and farmers to allow fair renegotiation
|
Debate points |
Nationalisation will be enormously expensive
Break all contracts between farmers and Belson to allow fair renegotiation
Would examine closely need to break the company up
|
Opposed to any nationalisation; wants to sell Govt. shares
"Clearly something must be done", but would investigate what before making sweeping statements
Too big for the free market to rein in because an effective monopoly
|
Belson should be promoted as a national treasure
But, it is clearly ignoring its obligations to Utanian people
Would introduce "social responsibility charter" for companies; then give it teeth
|
Belson is perhaps too large, a monopoly
All options need to be explored
Don't want to rush into hasty action
Opposed to nationalisation
|
Criticises Belson's wealth and size
Against hasty action or nationalisation also
Would look at breaking the company into smaller ones
|
Belson is a "core reason" for Utanians' woes
If not nationalised, then severely curbed
Belson's size and monopoly power is not good for workers, Utania, only investors
|
