Yannists may secure second seat
Saturday, November 17, 301 AP Web posted at 1943 UST. The Utani nationalist loose coalition of independents, the Yannists, looks certain to win a second seat in the outlying Utani-populated electorate of Ujam-Okope, over the Utani Saedaj Party. The Yannists are the new force in Utani politics, a militant and very traditionalist and nationalist party, that is the suspected political wing for the Ramali rebel force involved in the anti-development attack on the Zartlam Oil exploration rigs in the Guwimith Strait. The Yannists, however, are less a party as a loose coalition of like-minded independent MPs. A second seat in the state House of Representatives would reinforce the Yannists position, which is strongly in defence of traditional Utani culture and lifestyles. While they have no problem with the Uta-Decashi capitalist system, they object to Utani being either involved or forced to participate.
The victory by the Yannists will also weaken the Utani Saedaj Party in Lasanne, where 82% of Utani do not vote for Utani-based parties, instead for the Peoples Party, Democrats or even Conservatives. The introduction of the USP to Lasanne state ten years ago has not yet borne fruit. More... Related Stories Worker fears of Utani prompt Liberal Nationalist win Kapur: "Lasanne could be Hope's end" |
