Rovens capital under Coup D'Etat!

Friday, March 30, 301 AP
Web posted at 1823 UST.

HAASTADT, Rovens (RIM) -- The capital city of Rovens, Haastadt, in the country's south east has apparently been placed under unlawful martial law, with several hundred members of the elite Paratrooper Battalion of the Rovens armed forces, who seized control in an apparent coup-d'etat.

While details to date are sketchy, the soldiers have ordered people to remain off the streets in the downtown region, and to remain in their homes elsewhere in the city. One reporter stated that he had been told that there were thousands of soldiers joining them across the nation, however, this has not yet been substantiated.

Little information is yet available, except that which was filmed by journalists of the city's only television

station. The coup apparently began at shortly after 6pm, as the soldiers sealed off the downtown area of the capital, which includes the national Parliament. It is unknown whether the President or any parliamentarians have been caught in the coup.

So far, no armoured vehicles, naval vessels or air force planes are known to have joined the coup.
