UTAN KRYSAROR, Utania (ZGN) -- The Utanian interim election is looking certain to depend on postal votes in four electorates, with less than five thousand votes apparently determining the election winners.

The Utanian Electoral Commission (UEC) has decided to close counting 25.4 million votes made today, in Utania's second election. The majority of seats Ballot boxes being collected and counted under guard
have a result, but four electorates remain with one seat undecided that could determine whether Eric Barth's Peoples-Utani Saedaj lead government regains power.

The electorates of Hamilton and Gyum'th in Lasanne state, and Utan Krysaror and Mulgrave in Utani B'yan state all hang by wafer thin margins, with government seats also on the line in all the electorates. Except Gyum'th, where the Burovian candidate, former Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, George Polonovsk, is neck-and-neck with the former Democrat Governor of Lasanne state, Michael West. The Burovians supported the government in the previous Parliament and could be called to do so again given the tight race.

The UEC has only officially called a few seats, but Zeitgeist News believes that of the 153 Parliamentary seats that can be called, the government has won only 75 of them, possibly a 76th. This means that the chances of a minority government are significantly improved.

The Peoples Party appears to have only gained a single MP, so far, the Utani Saedaj gained three and the Republicans another one. The Conservative Party appears to have one, the Cruistian Democrats three, and the Democrats also three more. The new electorates add 17 MPs to Parliament.

The biggest proportional gain appears to be for the Utani Progressive Party who have also gained three MPs, and an estimated 15% increase in their vote.

It appears that there has been a 2% swing to the government or other leftist parties. Yet, with the government winning only five of the seventeen additional seats, this swing has made little difference to the final result.

The Free Green Collective's vote increased by almost 50% in polls so far, while the Burovians surprisingly lost about 3.5% of their vote, despite an increase in the voting population of over 12%.

The UEC says counting will resume on Monday morning, with final results in the four uncertain seats not likely for at least a week. Until then, Prime Minister Barth will continue to hold that position, cabinet will be unchanged, while the President is unaffected by the outcome of the election.
